Culture Ministry sees no cultural value in white-red-white flag 20

The Ministry of Culture is not going to consider the issue of giving the white-red-white flag a status of historical and cultural property.

Such a proposal had been made by the Belarusian Popular Front Party “Adradzhennye” to the Belarusian Republican Council on historical-cultural heritage issues of the Ministry of Culture.

The Ministry of Culture has sent a formal reply that “the essence of the proposal of the BPF Party repeats the materials offered earlier and does not contain new research materials”.

As informed by “Belarusian Partisan”, in 2008 the same proposal was made by the head of the Commission on protection of historical-cultural heritage of the BPF party and the chairman of the voluntary society for protection of monuments of history and culture Anton Astapovich. Then a brief instruction was written on the document: “to deny as long as there are not enough substantiation and documents”. Apparently the Belarusian history of pre-Soviet period does not seem “well-founded and compelling enough”.
