Government finds radiation not dangerous

A new order of establishing levels of radioactive contamination has been introduced in Belarus.

The Belarusian government adopted the new order of classifying lands as zones of alienation or lands restricted for agricultural activities, “Yezhednevnik” reports.

The new order was established by ruling #405 of the Council of Ministers approving the regulation on the order of classifying contaminated lands as zones of alienation or lands restricted for agricultural activities, exclusion lands from a radioactive dangerous category and permit to carry out agricultural activity in accordance with the designated purposes, expulsion lands from the alienation zone category and using them as the lands with restrictions for agricultural activities.

The ruling provides for a more flexible approach towards the danger of the contaminated lands and a possibility to use them in agriculture. In particular, a possibility of using contaminated ands will depend on a sort of crops to be plant there.
