"Vitebsky kurjer" founder detained again

The car of the founder of "Vitebsky kurer" Viktar Ramnyou was stopped by policemen in Mahilyou region, on the way from Smalensk printing house.

As informed by "Radio Svaboda", in Haretski police department the print run of the newspaper, 10,000 copies, was seized from Viktar Ramnyou.

The policemen drew up a new report for allegedly illegal dissemination of printed materials. The date of the court trial was not said to him. He was told to wait for a summons.

Exactly on April 8 in the court of Pershamajski district of Vitsebsk the reports against Ramnyou drawn up last time, on April 1, were to be considered. Then Vitsebsk policemen found in his car and confiscated 53 copies of "Vitebsky kurer". But judge Valyantsina Kismeroshkina postponed the trial for April 20, as she had to get prepared for the trial.

Viktar Ramnyou was punished for dissemination of independent newsppaers many times. Policemen call trnsporting newspapers from Russia "dissemination".

On March 25 policemen from Lyozna police department detained the car of "Vitebsky kurer" publisher not far from Russian-Belarusian border and confiscated the entire print run of the newspaper, 10,000 copies. On the evening of the same day the founder of teh newspaper was sentenced to a fine of 1.2 mln Br. On Marc 26 the court of Vitsebsk region fined Viktar Ramnyou for transportation of an unregistered newspaper "Nash dom".
