Authorities continue crackdown on Union of Poles

The criminal case against the chairperson of Ivyanets branch of the Union of Poles of of Belarus Teresa Sobal has been reopened.

The case was closed because of the expired period of limitations, however on the order of the prosecutor’s office policemen reopened it, and Teresa Sobal was prohibited to leave the country, Radio Racyja informs.

Teresa Sobal does not plead guilty and is convinced that reopening the case is nothing but psychological pressure on her with the aim to intimidate her.

A criminal case was initiated against Teresa Sobal on charges which related “abuse of office” some time ago.

In 2004 she and some other activists of the Union of Poles, received from the leader of the organization Tadevush Kruchkouski material aid, which caused interest of law-enforcers.
