Police obliged to prevent opposition from going to Minsk

An activist from Vaukavysk Vitaly Hulyak was detained in Hrodna-Baranavichy train when he was handing out “Elektrichka” newspaper.

35 copies of “Elektrichka” newspaper were seized from the detained. As said by him, the record of search was drafted only after a KGB man arrived to the police department, Radio Svaboda informs.

Everything except the newspaper was returned to Vitaly Hulyak, and he was released. Policemen also asked where from he had received the newspaper.

When Vitaly asked about the reasons for his detention and for seizing the newspaper, a policeman showed him a telegram from Minsk. As said by the detained, it was stated in the telegram that mass opposition rallies are planned in Minsk on August 15-16, and policemen should prevent “suspicious organized groups of opposition” from travelling to Minsk.
