KGB tried to recruit Zmitser Bandarenka’s wife

KGB officers visited the flat of Zmitser Bandarenka, a prisoner of the KGB (the State Security Committee) pre-trial detention centre. They wanted to have “a private conversation” with his wife Volha.

Volha Bandarenka managed to tell about that to her daughter on the phone, and after that call was interrupted.

In half an hour Volha Bandarenka was available on the phone again. She told that KGB men offered her “cooperation” and asked “to influence her husband”, making him cooperate with authorities in the investigation. For her agreement she was promised he would be released on recognizance, and he would be sentenced “to a term which would be not as long as Sannikov’s.”

Zmitser Bandarenka, Andrei Sannikov’s election agent, was detained on December 20 overnight and is kept in the KGB jail.
