KGB robbed pro-democracy activists’ office in Rechytsa

On March 15 KGB officers searched flats of pro-democracy activists in Rechytsa.

As BelaPAN was informed by the chairman of Homel regional branch of the Belarusian Popular Front party, Valery Putsitsky, in his absence unknown persons broke the door open in the private house where pro-democracy organizations rent premises, and where a community liaison office is situated, and stole a computer, a printer and a notebook.

“I learnt about that on March 16, when I came there and saw the doors had been broken open, and things had been stolen, and I called in police. They received my appeal, promised to look into this case, they arrived to the scene of the crime, and started investigation: making pictures, in particular. But then a dictrict policeman told to others it had not been a theft, but a search held by KGB officers,” Putsitsky said. He plans file a petition to the KGB and prosecutor’s office to appeal against illegal actions of KGB officers.

On the same day, March 15, KGB men held a search at the place of BPF party activists Aleh Karbalevich and Svyatlana Pyatrouskaya, who worked in the team of Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu during the latest presidential election. A computer, a risograph and printed materials were seized from Karbalevich.
