Anatol Lyabedzka: This situation will make us only stronger

The family of Anatol Lyabedzka, the leader of the United Civil Party, received his letters from the KGB jail on March 16 and 17.

Anatol Lyabedzka describes his everyday life in jail, reflects on the forced isolation from normal life and shares his thought over the future, which he sees rather optimistic, the website ucpb.org reports.

“Much has been done lately to plant hatred in my heart, but my heart is free from it,” Anatol Lyabedzka writes in a letter of March 10. “Even today I am sure that the situation will make us only stronger, more attentive to one another.”

The other letter, dated of March 13, describes the life in the KGB jail. Anatol Lyabedzka writes:

“I read Julio Cortázar and Pandora’s Box by Nesnasky. The first one is existentialismwith all its features, the second one a book to read on the subway. It’s hard to read only Cortázar, so you need to dilute this solution with water.”
