BSU gets rid off Square participant

A Young Front member, a second year student Ales Lukashou was expelled from physics department of the Belarusian State University.

The pretext is failure to pass end-of-semester exams, the website of the Young Front informs.

Ales Lukashou has joined the activities of the Young Front in Lida while he was in school. Before the election the young man worked in the team of Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu. He was marching in the same column with the presidential candidate towards October Square on December 19. He was a witness of Nyaklyeu’s beating and the events that followed.

After the rally on the Square he was summoned to police department several times: his both SIM cards were detected on the Square. For the first time policemen phoned up for him. Then he was summoned to appear through the dean of the faculty. The latter told that he cannot evict Ales on political grounds, but he would look for other ways. And finally the pretext was found: the failure to pass exams. Ales passed the first three exams out of five. He was failed at the two last exams.

Ales says that he was meant to be an example for others, as he was not the only one student of the faculty who had been present on the Square. He was not among the best students, and his expulsion seems to be logical. But those people for whom it is meant to be a warning, are to understand it rightly.

As said by Ales, the dean knows about all participants of the Square. Rumours are that they can be expelled during the semester or in summer exams, in order not to attract too much attention.

Nevertheless Ales Lukashou wants to obtain a degree. He has received an invitation from Poland to participate in Kalinouski programme already.
