Square Participant Tatsyana Hrachanikava needs help

Back in autumn Tatsyana Hrachanikava was diagnosed as having a tumour.

Then she helped one of the candidates in the presidential election campaign-2010. She collected signatures, distributed agitation materials, Naviny.by informs.

Before the election Tatsyana’s health deteriorated, her tests results were bad. Tatsyana had been waiting for the operation for a few months. An operation was scheduled for December 20, 2010. Despite of that, Tatsyana went to take part in the rally on the Square. She and her husband were beaten there. She was sentenced to 15 days of arrest.

Tatsyana asked the judge to change the form of punishment for her, she asked the chief of the detention facility to render medical assistance to her, but to no avail. All her requests were ignored.

On release she had to undergo medical tests again, which put off the operation for almost two months. The benign tumour turned into a malignant tumour. A cancer of the third stage was detected.

Tatsyana’s husband, Yury Shpak-Ryzhkou, was very nearly the only representative of the democratic forces in the precinct election commission #4 of Leninski district of Minsk. He was also detained on the Suqare, he served a 10 days’ arrest. He was thrown out of work.
