Banner “Grind Luka” on Belarusian embassy in St Petersburg

A banner “Freedom to Free People! Grind Luka!” was hung out today on a building of the Belarusian embassy department in St Petersburg, a group of local anarchists, who organized the action, said.

They said they began to mark days of solidarities with Belarusian anarchists held on May 12-15, Rosbalt news agency informs.

The case of anarchists was opened in Belarus seven months ago. The authorities are to start trials the next week. Seven persons, Mikalay Dzyadok, Ihar Alinevich, Alyaksandr Frantskevich, Maksim Vetkin, Yauheny Vaskovich, Artsyom Prakapenka, and Pavel Syramolatau, are in custody. “Thought none suffered from anarchists’ direct actions, the arrested may face from 7 to 12 years in prison. Proofs of the prosecution are based on evidence given by two provocateurs, who had taken part in these actions, but had not been charged,” the anarchists claim.

According to organizers of the action, the Belarusian dictatorial regime tries to survive at any cost. The coming trial is a “political reprisal against its most active and consistent opponents”.

“Lukashenka’s repressive regime fears protests even in other countries. The mission premises in St Petersburg have recently been taken under 24-hour police guard. But this cannot impede our solidarity,” St Petersburg anarchists think.
