800 people came to rally in Homel

The Homel municipal authorities did their best to prevent the street action: Lenin Square was cordoned off as well as Kiryla Turauski park.

People were pushed out to nearby streets. Participants of the open-air gathering stood at a trolleybus stop near Lenin Square, “Nasha Niva” reports.

People applaud to parade rehearsal taking place on the square. They raised their hands and shouted, some of them tore small banknotes.

The main hero suddenly appeared at the end of the action: an impressive man came out onto the balcony in the building opposite the trolley stop. He appeared to be a brilliant actor: pretending it was he whom people applauded to, he waved his hands and bowed preserving his proud and inaccessible appearance.

The action was about to end at 7: 30 pm without detentions, but was suddenly continued.

A group of youth of 200-300 people separated from the column and moved down Trud Street to the Eternal Flame monument and then down Lenin Avenue. Young people were applauding to the pleasure of car drivers and passers-by: drivers honked and people clap their hands in response.

Riot police blocked the way to the column. Protesters were dispersed; some persons were detained.
