Lipkovoch’s LJ blog blocked in Belarus

Yauheny Lipkovich’s blog has been put on the blacklist of Belarusian State Supervision of Telecommunication (BelGIE). Access to the blog was forbidden for governmental bodies.

As charter97.org found out, a reason for blocking was alleged “spreading destructive information and insulting the state symbols”.

A curious fact, about 300 LJ blogs, which have the same IP addres, have been blocked besides the targeted resource.

Yuheny Lipkovich became a notable figure on the Belarusian Internet after a “kefir war” and an attempt to run for Minsk City Council. The latest conflict between Mikalai Charhinets, the chairman of the official Union of Writers of Belarus, and Yauheny ended with administrative responsibility for the latter. Charhinets was displeased with the fact that Lipkovich burnt some of his books in public. The popular blogger said he wanted to save Belarusians from pornography in the books.

Lipkovich’s blog has joined a company of charter97.org, belaruspartisan.org, and prokopovi.ch, which were blocked for Belarusian users earlier.
