Ideological propaganda proceeds to new level

While the authorities are making unsuccessful attempts to curb the crisis, responsibility for curbing public indignation has been laid on ideologists and editors of official media.

People will soon feel the “redoubled zeal” of propaganda education. This was announced at an ideological conference held last week in Salihorsk (the Minsk region), Viasna Human Rights Centre reports.

The event focused on practical work of ideological officers in executive committees and big enterprises and editors of regional media in the current situation.

The authorities should know what every citizen thinks and how reliable he is. That’s why ideologists must establish “direct contacts” with every worker. “Only in this case we can know more about positions of a person, his views, demands and aspirations,” Alyaksandr Radzkou, a deputy head of the Lukashenka’s Administration, said.

Ideological propaganda in the middle class and on the Internet won’t be forgotten. Radzkou calls to look for new approaches in these spheres.

The second speaker, chief inspector in the Minsk region Mikalai Ivanchanka, offered to use the best of the foreign experience. One can have a sinking feeling that people “responsible for public opinion” will use the experience of Cuba or North Korea.

Speakers did not stint on loud words: for example, the presidential election was called “the moment of truth”. It was underlined several times that we live in an independent country.

So, encouraged and armed with “right” answers, ideologists will “meet with people more often” to “disperse ridiculous rumours” and explain every Belarusian “what is happening in the country and why the head of state has to take this or that decision”.
