Andrei Dzmitryeu expelled from UCP

18

The Minsk city council of the United Civil Party (UCP) expelled Andrei Dzmitryeu on January 10.

The campaign manager for 2010 presidential candidate Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu “did political damage to the party”, head of the UCP Minsk city organization Anatoly Paulau told the UCP press centre:

“Political damage is obvious. Let’s take the latest elections. It was the first time when the party had proposed its candidate for presidency. But Dzmitryeu, who was not just an ordinary party member, but a member of the National Committee and head of the UCP International Commission, demonstratively headed the campaign of another candidate. How should it be regarded if not as political harm? Another moment – his statement was aired on the Belarusian TV after December 19, 2010.

I should give credit to Yaraslau Ramanchuk – he quitted the party after his statement on TV. Dzmitryeu did not consider it necessary. I don’t doubt he will make a fuss about his expulsion. Especially now, when he has announced his plans to create a centre-left party, which fact contradicts the UCP ideology. He should have quitted himself, but he did not do it. So, the city council took this decision.”
