Letter from Sannikov: Not a single word about himself

Iryna Khalip, the wife of imprisoned presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov, has received a letter from him.

The letter is long, two pages. But Sannikov does not write anything about himself, his health and does not ask about his family – his son, wife and parents.

“This is not a letter. This is a short instruction of how to water plants. It has two pages. We have some house plants and I received recommendations how and when I should water them. Not a single word about himself.

I think he was explained his letters would not be sent if he wrote about himself and what is happening to him,” Iryna Khalip told Euroradio.

Iryna says the letter was written by Sannikov, his handwriting can be easily recognized. She concludes from the letter that her husband is at least alive. The letter was written and sent on January 3, but was delivered to Iryna only on January 11.
