A warning issued to Ales Kirkevich

On January 3, former political prisoner Ales Kirkevich visited police department “Centre” in Hrodna.

He was issued the first warning for violation of public order. The warning was given in connection with Kirkevich’s detention in September 2011, when he was handing out leaflets with information about silent protests on September 21.

Ales told Euroradio he is supposed to remain on police’s record for several years until term of his sentence ends. After the second warning, he may face preventive surveillance: a police officer will visit the guy at home and he will be restricted to travel outside the city.

Ales Kirkevich was convicted in the case of December 19. He was sentenced to four years in prison. On September 1, he and other political prisoners were pardoned and released from prison.
