Dzmitry Muratau wrote to Lukashenka

The editor in chief of Novaya Gazeta assumed that journalists incorrectly understood the Belarusian ruler.

“In the Novaya Gazeta’s publication on 17 October we groundlessly concluded that your words in the interview to the English journalists about our employee Iryna Khalip’s freedom of travel remained an unfulfilled promise. I sincerely apologize to you and my English colleagues for our hasty conclusions. By the approbation of you and Evgeni Lebiadzeu who interviewed you for the Independent we are ready to publish the interview on the pages of our newspaper”, - Dzmitry Muratau wrote.

We would remind that today in the British daily newspaper The Evening Standard the sensational revelations of Aliaksandr Lukashenka were published concerning the Novaya Gazeta’s staff reporter Iryan Khalip, the wife of the Belarusian presidential candidate Andrei Sannikau. In the interview to the newspaper’s journalist Lukashenka claimed that he was ready to release Khalip. The words are proved by a videotape of the interview.

Later the publication with the excerpts from the interview disappeared from the British newspaper Evening Standard’s web-site. In the press-service of the ruler they assure that the Belarusian dictator didn’t give any interview to The Evening Standard.
