IMF talks go with difficulties

The finance minister claims the country is ready to the implementation of a new IMF loan program, but states the difficulties in the talks with the fund.

“Belarus is ready to implement a new program with IMF – it is not a closed topic for us”, - said Andrei Kharkavets to journalists in Minsk on Tuesday, Interfax reports.

However, according to the minister the resolution of that issue depends on the IMF’s position. “The issue is on the side of our partners (IMF – Interfax). Not all turns out well yet, but I don’t see any obstacles not go enter a new program”, - Kharkavets said.

The head of the finance ministry also informed journalists that Belarus will have the respective consultations with the IMF administration at the yearly meeting of IMF and World Bank, which will be held in Tokyo in the beginning of October.

He reminded that in 2013 Belarus will face the peak of the debt payments on the foreign state loans out of which the major part accounts for the previous borrowings from IMF in 2009-2010.
