Restaurant on grave (Photo)

Construction of an entertainment centre near Kurapaty memorial complex is coming to an end.

The entratainment centre includes a huge restaurant, a wonderful children's play centre, a sauna and a banquet hall with a view of the last resting place of innocently killed people, Narodnaya Volya newspaper writes.

Kurapaty is the forest in the north-east of Minsk, where the largest burial place of people executed in the late 1930s – early 1940s was found. It is the place where “the fairest Soviet state” killed thousands of people. Polish researchers suppose it could be the site where people from the so called Belarusian Katyn list were buried.

Bulbash Hall leisure centre is expected to be opened in the near vicinity of the mass grave. It will be an entertainment centre with a view of the death camp.

There's no precise information regarding the number of people buried in Kurapaty. It is estimated from 7,000 (according to former Prosecutor General Aleh Bazhelka” to 30,000 people (according to BSSR Prosecutor General Henadz Tarnauski) to 100,000 people (according to the reference book “Belarus”) to 250,000 people (according to Prof. Zdzislaw Winnicki from the University of Wroclaw). British historian Norman Davis supposes the number can be even greater. The Belarusian authorities didn't build a memorial sign or a small chapel here. All wooden crosses were set by ordinary people, who still don't know where their fathers and grandfathers, who fell victims of the Soviet repressive machine, rest.

Fun and loud parties will be held on the opposite side of the road. A restaurant for 400 people, a large sauna with a banquet hall, a children's playground and houses for intimate relaxation – this is a project of the company “Nasha Restorannaya Gruppa”, which also owns Minsk restaurants Kushavel, Tuse and Dacha.
