BCD coordinator receives formal reply to complaint

The police of Babruisk refused to carry out an investigation over Taisia Kabanchuk's complaint.

On the day of “elections” on September 23, anonymous people posted an advertisement on the city portal that contained Kabanchuk's phone number and information about selling a Zhiguli car for 200 dollars and renting a two-room flat for 70 dollars. As a result, the coordinator of Belarusian Christian Democracy party in the Mahilou region faced a barrage of phone calls. Taiasia Kabanchuk received 280 calls only on Sunday. She applied to the website administration asking to delete the ads, but it brought no results, bchd.info reports.

The reply of police department chief Baradauka, which was signed by Markevich, informs that an inquiry was held over Taisia Kabanchuk's complaint, but the identity of a person who posted the ads was not found out. The administrative case over the incident was closed. Police say posting the ads didn't violate Taisia Kabanchuk's rights. Police also noted the advertisements was deleted from the website when the inquiry began.

“It is a usual formal reply similar to those all democratic activists regularly receive. The police never carry out inquiries, they just write formal replies. Their words that the ads had been deleted from the website are not true, because people still call me and say they've just read it. I will file complaints to higher bodies and demand to carry out a further  investigation,” Taisia Kabanchuk said.
