Prices of strong alcohol increased more than 1.5 times

Starting from October 25th the minimum prices for alcoholic beverages with alcohol content over 28% will be raised.

This is provided by the Resolution of the Ministry of Economy No. 87 as of October 18, 2012 on “Amendments to the Resolution of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus No. 49 as of March 31, 2011”.

The minimum (retail) price for 0.5 liter of vodka with 40% vol. will amount to Br29.6 thousand.

As the Ministry of Economy noted, the manufactures and the importers of the alcoholic beverages as well as retail enterprises are not entitled to sell the spirits (with alcohol content over 28%) at the prices lower than set by the Resolution.

The Resolution also defines the ex-works prices for import spirits sold within the territory of Belarus (without VAT included) as well as the minimum ex-works prices for ethyl alcohol of food raw material.

The Ministry of Economy reminded that the previous raise of the minimum prices for spirits (with alcohol content over 28%) followed the Resolution No. 36 as of April 26, 2012 that is half a year ago with the retail price of 0.5 liter of vodka with 40% vol. amounting to Br19.6 thousand.

The Resolution No.87 enters into force following its official publication.
