Pavel Seviarynets: Europe should not deceive itself

The visit of the deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs to Vatican is a blackmail of Russia with a European way of development for Belarus.

“It was exactly the Catholic church that showed the most concern about Belarusian political prisoners. And it is logical that the deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Siargei Aleinik paid a visit to Vatikan for that reason as well. They do not allow them to enter the doors – they are breaking in through the windows”, - co-chairman of Belarusian Christian Democracy (BChD)and a political prisoner Pavel Seviarynets told the charter97.org web-site.

According to the politician, Belarusian authorities need a dialogue with the EU in order to blackmail Russia: “It is hard for Belarusian authorities to have negotiations with Russia not having a dialogue with Europe. But neither Europe nor the Catholic Church should deceive themselves. This is a means of blackmailing Russia with a European way of development for Belarus. From a moral point of view it is disgusting”.

“Belarusians are hostages of the system, that sells the language, independence, public property and Belarus’ European future to Kremlin”, - the political prisoner pointed out.

We would remind that soon the deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Siargei Aleinik will visit Vatican and Sovereign Military Order of Malta. According to the official information, it is planned to discuss issues of humanitarian cooperation in the course of the visit.
