Kiev will appoint a new ambassador in Minsk

Current Ambassador Victor Tykhonov is elected to the new Supreme Rada.

Therefore, he is obliged to quit the diplomatic position.

Tykhonov was running not on the party list, but at one of the single-mandate  districts in Lugansk region. He got more than 60% of votes, reports interfax.by.

The Embassy of Ukraine said that the Ambassador will return to Minsk from Ukraine in the near future. However, the embassy did not specify for how long Tykhonov would stay in Belarus. The new squad of the Supreme Rada starts working in mid-December.

Viktor Tykhonov headed the Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus since August 2011.
