Meat prices in Poland and Belarus. Shock!

Meat products in Belarus are twice more expensive than in neighboring Poland.

Nisha Niva compared the prices in Minsk and Belastok  

Meat prices in the Polish supermarket “Tesco” in Belastok:

Chicken, quarter parts – 4,99 zloty or 13 500 rubles for a kilo,

Fresh minced pork and beef – 8,99 zloty or 24 300 rubles for a kilo,

Pork filet – 13,99 zloty or 38 000 rubles for kilo.

The prices in Minsk:

Chicken, quarter parts around 30 000 rubles for a kilo,

Fresh minced pork and beef – from 50 000 rubles for a kilo,

Pork filet – from 70 000 rubles for kilo.

We would remind that the government raises the prices for meat for 30% on 4 October.

For information: mostly private farmers are working in the agriculture in Poland.

The farmers’ lobby in Polish politics is quite strong. Polish farmers party is in the government for the second cadence in a row. Before that another farmers’ party – “Samooborona” – was in the government.

They don’t build “agro-cities” in Poland and the president doesn’t have meetings on sowing and harvesting.

Nevertheless the country’s agriculture functions pretty efficiently.

Polish farmers gained a lot from the European Union’s funds and opening the EU’s market for Polish products.
