The proposal was made by Lukashenka today.
“I don't say it must be the death penalty. But I stand for confiscating the murder weapon, a car, and imprisoning for 15 or 25 years,” Lukashenka said Friday at a meeting with students and academic staff of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Interfax news agency reports.
The head of state is convinced “these measures will change the situation”. “Let's decide it together, but I stand for imposing the strictest punishment for alcohol addicts who kill people [while driving – Interfax], especially children,” Lukashenka said.
“If you drink yourselves insensible, drive under influence and kill a person, in this case, I am all in favour of answering for that in full,” Lukashenka said.
