Lukashenka: Clean as a whistle MPs will be allowed to “parliament”

The next parliament is going to be “puppet” too.

“We need to have approximately a quarter of MPs of the old convocation to preserve continuity. But they must be as clean as a whistle in their work with public and in election districts. People will treat them with a critical eye. That's why continuity is crucial,” Alyaksandr Lukashenka said on Friday at a meeting with Uladzimir Andreichanka, the chairman of the “house of representatives” of the National Assembly.

As noted by the head of state, “Despite our democratic efforts and declarations that we stand far from the electoral process process, I think personally you, as the chairman, will have to take part in organizing the campaign,” Lukashenka told Andreichanka.

The dictator suggested the Council of the “house of representatives” should help the Central Election Commission with the campaign. “MPs are representatives of the electorate. I think no one will complain if they will help to organize the electoral campaign in a proper and democratic way,” Lukashenka said.

“We need to have a feedback on a range of issues we will solve and must solve ahead of the parliamentary elections. This is a test for the government, whether you like it or not. We need to settle these questions beforehand, so that people will not criticize us during the parliamentary elections and our “whistle-blowers” from the fifth column in the country and especially in the West will not rebuke us with the composition of the parliament,” Lukashenka noted.

“I am confident the parliament will be elected by people. Not blabbers, but people who are ready to solve certain issues will gain parliamentary seats. Every MPs should select these issues. There may be 50, 70 or 100 of them, but it will be our to-do list for the parliamentary election. Some issues may be left for better times,” the dictator said.
