Police and FC Dinamo fans beat anti-fascists activists in Brest

Anti-fascists and Dinamo Brest fans had a fight in Portal club on February 18.

According to the website Belarus.indymedia.org, some anti-fascists were celebrating a birthday in the club. About 25 Dinamo fans belonging to a Nazi group attacked them at the entrance to the club.

As the fight began, police appeared and tried to detain some anti-fascists. It might have been explained that law-enforcement officers did sort out the situation. Anti-fascists tried to explain to them what had happened, but police officers' response was inadequate – they used gas.

Eight policemen lined up ready to attack with batons. Nazis formed a rank behind police. Together, they attacked antifa activists. The latter tried to run away, but some of them were caught, knocked down and beaten with batons.

As a result, 10 anti-fascists were detained and guarded to the Leninski district police department. All of the detainees have traces of beating. Syarhei Haurylyuk felt bad after the beating and was taken to hospital. He was then returned to the police department. Six detainees were set free after photographing and video recording. An administrative case over article 17.1 (disorderly conduct) was opened against four young men. They were left in custody until trial on Monday.
