Belarusian MFA continues to play on Europe's nerves

The MFA of Belarus says escalation of tension chosen by Brussels in relation to Belarus is a way to a dead end.

This remark was made by Andrei Savinykh, the Belarusian MFA press secretary, concerning the statement by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Catherine Ashton, on February 28, 2012.

“The nervous reaction of the European Union to Belarus's proposal to the ambassadors of the EU office and Poland to have a round of consultations in their capitals demonstrates only one thing – Brussels has chosen a way of escalation of tension. This is a way to a deadlock,” Andrei Savinykh emphasized.

“Brussels and EU countries capitals should not forget tactics of intimidation does not work against Belarus. Normalization of the relations is impossible on unilateral conditions, on conditions of pressure,” the representative of the Belarusian MFA noted.

According to Andrei Savinykh, a productive result can be achieved only by a mutually respecting dialogue on mutually acceptable terms. “We hope our partners will understand it,” he added.
