Supreme Court upholds verdict against Sannikov

An appeal against the decision of the Partyzanski district court of Minsk filed by lawyers of presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov was dismissed.

The answer to the appeal signed by deputy chair of the Supreme Court Kalinkovich says “the case study carried out by the Supreme Court showed the conclusions of the first instance court and the court of cassation regarding Sannikov’s guilt of committing a crime provided for by part 1 of article 293 of the Criminal Court represent the actual facts of the case and are considered correct.”

The deputy chair of the Supreme Court mixed up the dates of delivering sentence to Andrei Sannikov: July 14 instead of May 14.

We remind that presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov was sentenced to 5 years in prison for taking part in a protest demonstration against the rigged presidential election. The political prisoners faced torture and cruel treatment in prison.
