Syarhei Kavalenka remains in prison hospital

Alena Kavalenka, the wife of hunger striker Syarhei Kavalenka, met with the prison chief and the medial unit chief.

They said Syarhei's condition can be characterized as moderately grave. Alena was told some processes ruining the health had already begun – Syarhei moves with difficulty, Radio Svaboda reports.

Alena Kavalenka was told Kavalenka wouldn't be transferred to a hospital for civilians, as all aid he needs can be rendered in the prison.

Syarhei Kavalenka was not sent for examination in the mental hospital as it was planned before. He is in the republican prison hospital now.

Syarhei Kavalenka and his brother Vitaly are to have a meeting today at 2:00 pm.

Syarhei Kavalenka's wife Alena, brother Vitaly and 7-year-old son Valik arrived in Minsk to see him.
