Belarus introduced limitations on animals coming from EU

Belarus has introduced temporary limitations on the animals vulnerable to Schmallenberg disease that are brought to the country, the Department of veterinary and food control of the Ministry of Agricultural Production told Interfax West.

“We introduce temporary limitations from 23 March since new cases of Schmallenberg disease have been registered with animals in the European Union. We also want to prevent the agents of the disease from penetrating Belarus,” representatives of the Department pointed out.

This ban concerns cattle and small cattle, pigs. It does not concern pedigree cattle; these animals are quarantined in the exporting country under surveillance of Belarusian specialists.
