About 100 anarchists arrested at concert in MTZ House of Culture

A concert in support of Minsk “Food Not Bombs” groups was planned in Minsk on March 24 in the MTZ (Minsk Tractor Plant) House of Culture.

However, as Radio Svaboda informed, right in the beginning of the concert riot policemen burst into the performance hall and detained all those present, about 100 persons.

As said by a young activist, the wife of the political prisoner Mikalai Dzyadok, Lera Khotsina, riot policemen stormed the hall when the concern had not started yet. The detainees, many girls being among them, were loaded into three paddy wagons and one bus. They were not allowed to use mobile phones. They were taken to the police department of Patryzanski and Central districts of Minsk.

It is also informed that before the concert an unknown person stood near the entrance and attentively watched when was happening, and then he ordered to start the operation.

Groups of FNB (Food not bombs) initiative are engaged in serving free food. As activists explain, FNB is not just an initiative for sharing food for free. But their work activists try to attract attention of the society to the problems of social inequality and poverty in their country and worldwide. They try to attract attention to the fact that these problems are complex ones, and that they cannot be viewed separately from the political and social system, and urge “to eradicate the problem, not to struggle with its consequences.”
