Chernobyl Way Rally 2012: from Academy of Science to Bangalore Square

The organizing committee to hold the rally approved the final route and a list of politicians who are supposed to file an application for the rally to the Minsk city executive committee on Tuesday.

The applicants are Yury Khadyka, Alyaksei Yanukevich, Dzyanis Sadouski, Anastasia Palazhanka and secretary of the public ecological expert board for the Belarusian NPP project Tatsyana Novikava, Radio Racja reports.

A traditional route was chosen for the Chernobyl Way 2012. The rally is expected to start at 6 pm of April 26 near the National Academy of Science in Minsk. Co-head of the organizing committee Alyaksei Yanukevich says:

“We agreed to file an application to the Minsk city executive committee for holding a rally on occasion of an anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. We plan to gather near the Presidium of the National Academy of Science from 6 to 6:30 pm on April 26, walk along Independence Avenue, Surhanau Street to the Park of Peoples' Friendship, where we plan to have a mourning meeting from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.”

The rally on March 26 will be held under traditional slogans: restoring and increasing benefits for victims of the Chernobyl disaster, imposoing a  ban on using products from contaminated lands and organizing a wide public discussion of a project of the Belarusian nuclear plant station.
