Belarusian judges’ mass escape

Belarusian judges’ mass escape

From the beginning of the year Lukashenka has signed two Decrees on dismissal of judges of regular courts.

Blogger d-zholik points out the unnaturally big amount of judges who have quitted voluntarily.

16 judges of regular courts have quitted voluntarily which was confirmed in these two decrees signed in 2012. Given that the general amount of judges of these courts is less than 1000, the Belarusian court system lost about 2 percent of its staff during early 2012. The number is shocking.

Compared to the previous year, the numbers are even more shocking. During the entire year 2011 only 11 judges quitted voluntarily (including promotions and early retirement), while during the first three months of 2012 16 judges have left their jobs.

Judges are obviously fleeing the system.

And it is no surprise. Most of the judges are intelligent people, and they are getting tired. They see how strong the “telephone right” has become in the country. They see how people are found guilty not by the judge who is guided by the Law and consciousness, but by a decision from above or from prosecutors’ offices, KGB and police departments.

They see that nearly everyone who shares oppositional views, leaders of republican opposition political parties and their regional branches are condemned for using foul language in public places.

They see KGB give judges directions to throw mentally healthy people to mental hospitals.

They get directions to condemn defendants of political cases.

Even the sanctions imposed by the European Union have played their role.

By the way, a similar mass escape phenomenon is typical for the interior forces. Police departments all over the country are tremendously understaffed. Only recently several thousand people have quitted from the Interior Ministry structures, while for several years ago it was impossible to get a job in a regional police department without a significant bribe which would guarantee good results of a medical examination and admission to the “courageous” Belarusian police. And this is what we have just several years after…

The KGB is the only system that has no problems. But only those who initially lack moral principles are admitted there – every moral freak will get a place in the KGB.

They say that rats are the first to flee a drowning ship. In this situation, the judges and Interior forces employees are rats, and Lukashenka’s regime is the ship which is obviously drowning.
