3 million fine for distributing newspapers

A judge of the Leninski district court of Mahilou, Aksana Ratnikava, found activist of BPF party Syarhei Nehatin guilty of violating the law on the mass media.

Nehatin was fined 3 million Belarusian rubles, Radio Svaboda reports.

The public activist was distributing “Zdes i Seichas” newspaper not being an official distributor. The judge said it violated the law on the mass media.

Three policemen, Holubeu, Safronau and Davarau, gave evidence against Nehatin.

Syarhei Nehatin tried to prove “Zdes i Seichas” newspaper was not registered officially, so he did not need an official permission for distribution.

The court ordered to destroy 79 copies of the paper seized from Nehatin on March 31.
