Andrejchanka predicts problems to EU due to sanctions

The policy of sanctions contradicts the logics of partnership relations, and it would have negative effect, the member of the “parliament” stated.

The chairman of the “Chamber of Representatives” Uladzimir Andrejchanka (Vladimir Andrejchenko) has stated that today when opening the first meeting of the 10th session of the “Chamber of representatives” of the “National Assembly” of Belarus, BelTA reports.

The speaker of the parliament noted that the recent decisions of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament show who is the real initiator of the confrontation. Andrejchanka has stressed: “Such steps contradict the interests of citizens of Belarus and the EU.”

Uladzimir Andrejchanka has noted: “Unfortunately, some European structures do not always objectively evaluate the processes taking place in our country. The position of the Belarusian members of the parliament remains unchangeable. We are ready for a constructive discussion with the international parliamentary organizations, parliaments of foreign states, but on the basis of mutual respect and equality.”

“The recent decisions of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament vividly demonstrate who the real initiators of aggravating the relations are. Expanding the sanctions, including the use of economic restrictive measures, contradict the logics of partnership relations and would have a negative effect both for economic entities of our state and for the European Union itself,” Uladzimir Andrejchanka has stated today.

Such steps, to his mind, are inacceptable from the point of view of the fundamental principles of international relations. Besides, such steps by the EU push back possibilities for normalization of the dialogue between Belarus and the EU.

“It should be noted that our understanding is shared by many politicians and representatives of business circles of European states. We were able to assure ourselves of that when we took part in the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE,” Uladzimir Andrejchanka said.
