Pavel Vinahradau may be put under preventive surveillance

The Maskouski district court of Minsk will decide on April 6 whether former political prisoner Pavel Vinahradau should be put under stricter surveillance.

The grounds are numerous violations of the Code of Administrative Offenses since the release from prison on September 14, 2011, Viasna human rights centre reports.

Vinahradau was detained several times for alleged swearing and sentenced to administrative arrests. For example, he served 25 days in custody this year.

Under the Criminal Procedure Code of Belarus, Pavel Vinahradau will be obliged to visit police on call and give explanations regarding fulfilling the requirements of the preventive surveillance; warn the police about change of work or residence; leave the district (city) only with a sanctions of police.

Preventive surveillance also limits the time of being out of home, forbids visiting certain mass events and imposes other restrictions.

The case will be heard by judge Tatsyana Motyl.

We remind the court of the Pershamaiski district of Minsk put former political prisoner Uladzimir Yaromenak under preventive surveillance for one years on March 15.
