Picket “For honest elections without Lukashenka” to be held in Mahilou

Activists of the United Civil Party (UCP) filed two applications to the local city executive committee for holding pickets to launch the campaign “For honest elections without Lukashenka!”.

They want to carry out pickets on the Soviet Square and a place near the diagnostic centre, Viasna reports.

Uladzimir Shantsau, the leader of the UCP branch in Mahilou, says it was a deliberate decision of the activists to apply for pickets in unauthorized places.

“Firstly, people do not visit the only permitted place for pickets, Khimik Stadium. Secondly, the authorities held their mass events wherever they want and do not pay for them. We have to apply for holding pickets and pay for them. Where is justice? It can be called amoral conduct by the authorities,” Uladzimir Shantsau says.

The head of the UCP branch in Mahilou notes the party activists started the campaign to strive for observing the Constitution of Belarus both by people and the authorities.
