One more Young Front member given 7 days in custody

Dzmitry Kramyanetski, an activist of international youth organization Young Front, has been sentenced to 7 days in custody.

The decision was taken by the Savetski district court of Minsk on April 28, BelaPAN reports.

Kramyanetski was accused of violating article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences (disorderly conduct).

According to Kramyanetski, Uladimir Yaromenak and he were detained near the Savetski district court on April 27.

“We were waiting for the trial against our friends – Mikalai Dzyamedzenka, Mikhail Musski and Raman Vasilyeu. We went to a shop for two minutes to buy water and cigarettes. Men in riot police uniform ran up to us and detained us,” the Young Front activist said.

Kramyanetski said he was accused of swearing on the steps of the court building,

The activist says police officers did not hide the detention was connected with the Chernobyl Way 2012 rally. “The said we would answer for taking part in the rally,” the Young Front member notes.

He said he would appeal against the decision of the Savetski district court. “I have no illusions on the matter. The Minks City Court is likely to upheld the ruling of the Savetski district court, though I am not guilty of the charges brought against me. Nevertheless, I will appeal against the court decision,” Kramyanetski said.
