1

Activists of Tell the Truth campaign and some people from neighbouring villages and  summer cottages communities gathered near the police department of the Smalyavichy district.

They brought a parcel and greeting cards to imprisoned Andrei Dzmitryeu and Mikhail Pashkevich. Dzmitryeu marks his birthday tomorrow, Radio Svaboda reports.

Journalists from Finland interviewed the people.

The whole group is moving to the detention facility, where Dzmitryeu and Pashkevich are kept.

People tried to pass a parcel to them, but policemen refused to accept it saying parcels are allowed only from close relatives. This conditions seems impossible for Dzmitryeu because his wife cannot leave home with a small child.

Activist of Tell the Truth campaign say the refusal is illegal. They plan to gather tomorrow to pass a parcel. They will try to receive power of attorney from Dzmitryeu's relatives. Leaders of the campaign are expected to arrive tomorrow in hope a parcel for Dzmitryeu will be accepted on his birthday.

Alena Misnik, a judge of the court of the Smalyavichy district, sentenced one of the leaders of Tell the Truth campaign, Andrei Dzmitryeu, to 10 days in custody on Monday, May 7. Campaign activist Mikhail Pashkevich was also arrested for 10 days. They were found guilty of violating article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences (taking part in an unauthorized mass event).

Dzmitryeu and Pashkevich wre helping local dwellers, who protest against construction of a Chinese-Belarusian technological park in the south east of the Smalyavichy district, to the west of Minsk-2 National Airport.
