Chizh to set up tractor manufacturing plant in Pakistan

Republic of Belarus has planned to set up a tractor manufacturing plant in the Sindh province of Pakistan.

This was stated in a meeting between Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and a delegation of Tripple LLC, Republic of Belarus, at the CM House on Thursday.

The chief minister said that Sindh being an agriculture-oriented province was striving to mechanise its economy in order to boost production.

Ali Shah said that the development of land, provision of machinery, equipments and other articles were required to modernise agriculture in the province. There are a lot of investment opportunities which can be tapped into via tractor manufacturing and assembling.

The government of Sindh will provide facilities to investors to eliminate any bottlenecks on priority basis. He also hoped that the venue of plant could be Larkana.

Chairman Board of Investment Saleem H Mandivwala informed that M/s Tripple LLC of Belarus wanted to manufacture tractors in Pakistan particularly in the Sindh province. There was a vast market for them, he added. Chairman Sindh Board of Investment Zubair Motiwala said that there was a demand of at least 100,000 tractors in Pakistan.

It was also informed that in connection with the government subsidy on tractors, every year more than 140,000 applications were received of which only 5,000 were accepted.

The delegation of M/s Tripple LLC informed the meeting that the proposed site for the plant was Hub industrial area.

The meeting was attended among others by Alexei Chepikov, Andrel Kokhov, Alexandr Slesarev, Abdul Ghani Majeed, Salman Yousuf, Mustafa Majeed, Nadeem Akhtar, Ms Naheed Shah Durrani and Principal Secretary to CM Agha Jan Akhtar.
