A working meeting of leaders of Belarusian political emigration centres from Belgium, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine and the Czech Republic was held in the Belarusian House in Warsaw.

The meeting focused on discussion of concerted actions of the centres to democratize Belarus: creating the common media space, joint action plan, ways of external influence on the inner situation in Belarus, belhouse.org reports.

The meeting was attended by Aleh Myatelitsa (Civil and Political Representation of Belarus in Lithuania HUB), Alyaksei Frantskevich (the Association for Modernization, Prague, the Czech Republic), Yury Zhylko (Office of Belarusian Political Emigration, Antwerp, Belgium), Zmitser Barodka (European Belarus foundation), Iryna Tyutyunnik (the Belarusian Centre in Ukraine), Anatoly Mikhnavets (the Union to Support Democracy in Belarus, Warsaw, Poland).

One of the main issues of the meeting was raising efficiency of activity of Belarusian emigrants for country's good.

As Zmitser Barodka noted, “The situation in Belarus causes a real tide of emigration. People vote by their feet because they do not see any other ways out. They leave the country and say they will work for Belarus abroad. We need to understand how to do this with maximum efficiency. Belarusians should not be lost in crowd, they should hang together and act together – this is our aim.”

Participants of the meeting planned a number of joint events the nearest of which is the traditional Solidarity Day on June 16.

The Belarusian emigrants plan to have the next meeting in autumn. As many Belarusians emigrants as possible are expected to take part in the event.

The event was organized by the Civil and Political Representation of Belarus in Lithuania (HUB) and Warsaw-based European Belarus foundation (Poland).
