OSCE PA to discuss human rights situation in Belarus

The human rights situation in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine will be discussed at the 21st session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Monaco from 5 to 9 July 2012.

The OSCE PA press centre reports the session “The OSCE: A Region of Change” will be attended by representatives of over 50 states, BelaPAN news agency  informs.

Members will debate and vote on more than 30 resolutions focusing on economic recovery, Iran’s nuclear programme, democracy in the Arab World and military cooperation.

The session will also include a Mediterranean Forum with delegations from the Middle East and North Africa – the first such meeting since democratic elections were held in Tunisia and Egypt, the press centre notes.

The session will close on July 9 with the election of officers and the adoption of the Monaco Declaration, which helps shape OSCE and national policy.
