Babruisk strikers get dismissal threats

Workers intend to fight to a finish seeing no sense in stopping.

Talks with the plant administration brought no results for workers of the Tractor Parts and Units Plant in Babruisk, who went on strike on July 10, Radio Svaboda reports.

A worker from the tractor assembly shop, who visited the plant bosses, says representatives of the administration began to threaten workers when the latter tried to figure out why their wages had not been paid:

“There's a tense situation. They threaten us. They scare they can fire us. We visited the bosses. They talked to us rudely. One man was moved to another shop. They want another one to be moved too. People indent to fight to a finish seeing no sense in stopping.”

We remind two brigades of the tractor assembly shop on the Babruisk Tractor Parts and Units Plant refuse to work on July 9.

The reason for protests was a decrease in wages. Workers lost 45% of extra payments, but were not informed about any orders. About 20 people refused to work.

The Babruisk Tractor Parts and Units Plant produces units for the whole line of tractors of the Minsk Tractor Plant. The plant employing more than 3,500 personnel is considered to be among Babruisk's most successful enterprises.
