Medvedev came for Belaruskaliy

Russia’s Prime Minister said that Belarus should speed up the privatization process of Belaruskaliy.

Dmitry Medvedev made a correspondent statement on June 18 in Minsk during a press-conference on the results of the Russian-Belarusian talks.

“I think it’s high time for our Belarusian friends to make the decision,” RIA Novosti cites the Russian Prime Minister.

We remind that on June 17 Aliaksandar Lukashenka visited Belaruskaliy and once again said that he has no intention to sell the enterprise cheap, and that in case the enterprise is going to be sold, only certain amount of shares will be on sale, while the state will keep the control stock.

Nevertheless, there are some aces in the Russian Prime Minister’s pocket. He warned Lukashenka that Russia can raise the issue of smuggling of petrol products from Belarus under disguise of dissolvent.

“We have agreed to figure out everything, to take all necessary decisions. Even hard ones. And if there were violations, then those who have made them should be punished, while the economic interests should be restored,” Dmitry Medvedev said today commenting on the results of the talks with the Belarusian powers on dissolvent and diluents export from Belarus.
