Andrei Bandarenka the first to be put on KGB watchlist

Andrei Bandarenka, the director of Platfom information and educational association, has been taken to the KGB.

He was put on the KGB watchlist, Belorusski Partizan learned from Platform.

An hour ago, two men in mufti showed KGB cards to Andrei Bandarenka in the Pershamaiski district police department and strongly advised him to follow them. Andrei Bandarenka remembered the name of one of the men – Preyeu Alyaksandr.

Bandarenka was taken to the KGB, where a decree on putting him on the KGB watchlist was read to him. He was proposed to sign the decree.

He asked to give him a copy of the decree, but KGB officers rejected his request. Andrei Bandarenka was offered to read all documents in his file and write down what he needs. The opposition activist asked to give him a pen and paper, but his request was ignored.

Platform association plans to send a request to the KGB asking to provide an official document confirming the fact of placing  Andrei Blyatski on the KGB watchlist.

We remind Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed decree No. 295 on July 4. The document amends the decree of 2007 on simplification of exit procedures from the Republic of Belarus.

Under the amendments, exit from the country will be banned for persons on watchlists of state security services of Belarus. The KGB was given the right to put such persons on the appropriate database. Earlier, the KGB could impose travel ban only on the persons having access to state secrets. Other people were put on the database by the ministries of internal affairs, justice and defence.

The decree in fact legitimated the ban to leave the country for opposition activists.
