KGB intimidated family and friends of Catherine Skurat

Security forces do not give a rest to the 16-year resident of Ivenets who could one of the first make pictures of teddy bears, dropped by the Swedes.

On Friday, July 20, rumors appeared about the detention of 16-year-old graduate of the Ivenets School for the investigation on the case of the "Swedish troopers". Today it became clear that KGB interrogated her only in the presence of her parents. The girl burst into tears during questioning, and KGB officers, before leaving, intimidated the girl and her parents, reports "Belsat".

Each family member has his own version

Nothing was known about the fate of Catherine Skurat in the past few days. Her mobile phone was switched off, the account vkontakte – removed, the home phone was silent. Friends from Ivenets, who conversed with her daily, were afraid to make any comments.

The grandpa of the girl declined to comment anything: "You yourself know everything".  The grandmother claimed that Catherine went to the vacation. Aunt of the graduate was trying to prove that Catherine is preparing for the entrance examination to the Institute of Journalism at home. The woman argued that the information on the detention of Catherine is a malicious gossip, spread by envious. The aunt said that Kate is a very capable girl, a winner of the regional and national competitions on the Belarusian language. Hence, she said, this is an attempt to discredit Catherine.

  Teachers praise Catherine

Her friends only told that Catherine is an open and cheerful girl. She loves to interact with people - hence the choice of journalism as a future profession. Kate has always behaved in a balanced way, emphasize her classmates, and it doesn’t seem normal that she has removed her page from the social network.

Catherine is also praised by teachers of the Ivenets high school, claiming that she is the first so capable pupil in school's history. Of all the 800 students it was she who brought glory to the Volozhin district by winning Olympiads. Not only the local newspaper but also other newspapers were writing about her.

Recall, earlier, for the publication of pictures of the teddy bears have been detained Anton Suryapin, the 20-year old photographer. He is accused of aiding illegal border crossing. Sergei Basharimov, who was just going to rent an apartment to the Swedes is suspected in the same. He faces up to seven years in prison. Basharimov’s girlfriend Irina Logoyko has got in “Americanka” for one night.

On July 4 Swedish advertising agency Studio Total reported on its website about a rally that was held to support democracy in Belarus. Swedish promoters flew from the Lithuanian border to Minsk and freely moved back. On the outskirts of Minsk, as well as over the town Ivenets in Volozhin district of the Minsk region, Swedes threw 876 teddy bears with leaflets in defense of media freedom in Belarus attached to them.
