KGB provocation: Prosecutor General's Office pitted against independent media (Photo)

Warrant officer Shabunevich, whose scandalous resignation from the KGB was covered by independent media, defies his own words.

As charter97.org website already reported, KGB officer Anton Shabunevich complained at his work on VKontakte social networking site. According to him, he was a member of Maladzechna district department of the KGB, and often travelled to Minsk on duty. Anton Shabunevich suddenly realized it didn't make him happy. He resigned from the KGB to study journalism at the Belarusian State University.

"I am 25 years old. One could say it is a one third of a life, I want to live up to 75. This is a period in life, when you can draw a conclusion and even a result of your life. In my 25 I have a low-paid work in the KGB, whose meaning is to complete tasks of the command and to formulate tasks for my subordinates. A work that does not require special intellectual abilities and requirements,” the KGB officer wrote on his VKontakte account.

The young man is outraged by huge limitations that concern any employee of the KGB. "The number of restrictions and bans simply will not allow to live and to receive pleasure from life. Inability to travel to EU countries, the ban on social networking, a ban on the income from other work, except the service,”  Anton Shabunevich wrote.

The young KGB officer is also unsatisfied with the level of his official income.

A new statement by the former KGB officer appeared in official press today.

“I am Anton Shabunevich and I am telling you, dear journalists, that I am happy to have served in a military unit of the KGB. It was my decision to resign. You will never understand that the KGB is an organization where many want to work, but only few get a job there. If I was enrolled and served there, it means I am worth of something. People do not always serve for money. It's more than money sometimes. In your article, you are showing me as worm who cannot do anything, but just complains at his low salary and hard work. Why don't you write that one of the main reasons for resignation was my desire to study at the military faculty of the Belarusian State University? Or do you think they pay much there? You used my words as it was profitable to you. It wasn't the way I wrote it. I'd like to notice that no one asked my permission to use my personal conversations and interpret them in your interests,” the statement says.

Anton Shabunevich applied to the Prosecutor General's Office asking to defend his honour and dignity “harmed” by publication of his own words on independent websites.

No surprise that conversation history explaining the reasons for resignation have been removed from former KGB officer's account on VKontakte.

However, Anton Shabunevich agreed to give an interview to charter97.org just after appearing the information about his resignation, but asked to wait for some days, because he didn't know “how his frankness will be met”.
