Ladutska’s deputy is accused of extortion of $ 500,000

Igor Vasiliev, the first deputy chairman of the Minsk city Executive Committee, is accused of extorting bribes of 500 thousand dollars.

The official was caught red-handed when he picked up 250 thousand dollars.

"The KGB put a stop to illegal aspirations of the First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk city Executive Committee Igor Vasiliev, extorting a bribe of 500 thousand dollars from the representatives of a European business-investor for a favorable solution to the issue of signing an investment agreement for more than 30 million dollars", - said on Wednesday to the agency "Interfax-West" Acting Director of KGB Center of Information and Public Relations Arthur Streh.

He informed that "according to the condition, put  before the representatives by I.Vasilev, the transfer of funds supposed to be made in two equal parts of 250 thousand dollars".

A.Streh reported that "on July 6, 2012,  I.Vasilev was arrested by the KGB in his office after receiving the first part of a bribe of $ 250 thousand dollars".

"A criminal case has been initiated under the Part 3 art. 430 of the Criminal Code (bribery on a large scale by person holding a responsible position)”, - said the representative of KGB.

"During interrogation I.Vasilev admitted his guilt completely. The official has been detained. Materials of the criminal case have been submitted to the Investigation Committee for further investigation”, - said A.Streh.
